Architectual and Archival Research
ARL offers clients a variety of services in the areas of architectural and archival research. Clients may contract directly for these services or include them as part of a larger project involving one or more other ARL services. Our clients have included federal agencies such as the Department of Defense, the National Park Service, and the Tennessee Valley Authority. Other clients include state agencies, private sector companies, and units of local government.
Archival Research offers the client detailed information about the history of cultural resources in a pre-defined project area. This can be as small as a single parcel of land or encompass several acres. Need to know what used to be there and when? Archival research can provide the answers through deed research, maps, written histories, city directories and countless other sources.
Architectural Services include:
- Preparation of National Register nominations on standing structures ranging from a single resource to an entire district
- HABS/HAER documentation
- Architectural Assessments and determinations of National Register eligibility
- Comprehensive architectural surveys up to the county level
- Section 106 Review
- Investment Tax Credit projects
- Assistance with neighborhood preservation planning issues such as design guidelines
